Consejos a los Padres en el Nuevo Año Escolar ~ Children's Services Center offers Tips for Parents for the New School Year English Version

"El comienzo de un nuevo año escolar puede ser una ocasión emocionate para los niños, pero puede ser también verdaderamente espantoso" dice la Proveedora Especializada en  Soporte a los Padres, Pamela Broughton.  Los niños pueden experimentar ansiedad de separación, ansiedad acerca de sus nuevos maestros, nuevos amigos y nuevas rutinas.  CSC ofrece los siguientes consejos  a los padres para ayudar a sus hijos a una transición más confortable  al año escolar que se avecina.

Establezca una rutina:  Los niños necesitan estabilidad y rutinas proveen esa estabilidad, asi que tomese el tiempo para sentarse con su niño y planear  una rutina diaria.  En su rutina diaria incluya  una hora para despertarse, hacer siesta y para irse a la cama.  También asegúrese de incluir tiempo para que sus niños se sienten y  hagan un resumen del dia con Ud.

Adioses:  Para los niños pequeños decir adiós puede serdifícil.  Si este es el caso. los padres deberían de llegar a la escuela/guarderia con su niño unos pocos minutos más temprano.  Esto les dará tiempo para explorar el salón de clases con su niño, ayudándoles a sentirse cómodos y a adaptarse. No prolongue sus adioses, un rápido y alegre " hasta luego" es la mejor forma para lograr un exitoso adiós.

Interésese:  Los padres pueden ayudar a sus niños involucrándose con la guarderia/escuela.  Las conferencias con los profesores y las casas abiertas son una gran oportunidad para aprender más sobre la rutina diaria de sus hijos.  Si los padres tienen el tiempo disponible para  servir como voluntarios en la guarderia/escuela  esta es otra gran técnica de participación.

"The beginning of a new school year can be an exciting time for kids, but it can also be really scary," says CSC Parent Provider Support Specialist Pamela Broughton.  Children may experience separation anxiety, anxiety about their new teachers, new friends and new routines. CSC offers the following tips to parents to help their children transition more comfortably into the coming school year.

Plan a routine:  Children need stability and routines provide that stability, so take some time to sit down with your child and plan a daily routine. In their daily routine include a time for waking up, napping and going to bed. Also be sure to include time for your children to sit and recap their day with you. 

Goodbyes:  For younger children, saying good-bye can be difficult.  If this is the case, parents should arrive to school/child care with their child a few minutes early.  This will give them time to explore the classroom with their child, helping them to become comfortable and settled.  Do not prolong your good-byes; a quick and cheerful, "Bye, see you later," is the best approach for a successful good-bye.

Become involved:  Parents can also help their children by becoming involved with their child's childcare provider/school.  Teacher conferences and open houses are a great opportunity to learn more about your child's daily routine. If parents have the time, volunteering at the child care center/school is another great involvement technique.
