Investigadores Buscan Sospechoso de Violación en Ft. Walton - Investigators Seek Rape Suspect in Ft. Walton  English Version

La Oficina del Alguacil del Condado de Okaloosa está investigando reportes que una mujer de Fort Walton Beach fué secuestrada de una tienda en el Boulevard de Mary Esther el 17 de Julio y violada en un área aislada.

La mujer dice que ella se subió a su 1994 Chevy Blazer, de color azul, en Sun Plaza Shopping Center cerca de las 6-7 pm. el último Martes y fué acosada por un hombre que estaba en el asiento trasero del vehículo.  De acuerdo con las declaraciones de la oficina del alguacil, dice que fué forzada a manejar por un rato antes de hacerla pasarse al asiento de atrás.  Luego se pararon en un camino de tierra, en un áerea arbolada retirada, donde fué violada.  La mujer dice que el hombre se subió al carro y se fué, pero regresó como a los 10 minutos.  La hizo que lo llevara a Lewis Turner Boulevard donde se bajó del carro y se fué caminando. La vícima manejó al Fort Walton Medical Center.

El sospecho es descrito como un hombre blanco entre 40 y 45 años.  Usaba una chaqueta azul con capucha, un gorro tejido y pantalones negros.

Hay muchas formas de tomar precauciones contra la violación.  Las personas, sobre todo las mujeres, deben de aprender las maneras de protegerse asi mismas incluyendo las siguientes;

  En la calle

- Usar ropa y zapatos en los cuales pueda correr.

- Caminar en áreas bien iluminadas y traficadas

- Si un carro amenazante se aproxima, dé la vuelta y camine en dirección opuesta.

  En su Casa

- Cambie las chapas de los residentes anteriores

- Colóquese cerca del botón de emergencia en el elevador

- Pida identificción de una persona no esperada.

- Mantenga las llaves de su casa separadas de las llaves del carro.  Nunca de las llaves de su casa a nadie, ni temporalmente, a una persona que esté haciendo mantenimiento.

  En una Cita

- Escuche a ese "mal sentimiento" de su estómago

- Sea asertiva, cruce los brazos, cuadre sus hombros, fije su mirada en los ojos del atacante.

- Si fuerza es usada, grite "violación"

  En una relación íntima

- Mantenga dinero extra listo para usar

- Si se va, llevese a sus niños, lleve identificación, medicinas, llaves de la casa, ropa para emergencias, juguetes especiales, etc. o ....

- Deje una maleta empacada con alguien de su confianza.

  En Un Bar

- Pida sus bebidas a un servidor en quien Ud. confia

- Trate de mantener su bebida a la vista

- Haga planes adelantados-  hable con sus amigos y discuta que haría si Ud, piensa que alguien ha sido drogado.

  En su Carro

-  Chequee el asiento de atrás antes de subirse

- Eche llave a las puertas y mantenga las ventanas subidas 3/4

- Mantenga el tanque de gasolina por lo menos lleno a la mitad para que Ud pueda manejar hasta un sitio seguro si es perseguida.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is investigating reports that a Fort Walton Beach woman was kidnapped from a store on Mary Esther Boulevard July 17th and later raped in a secluded area.

The woman says she got into her blue, 1994 Chevy Blazer at the Sun Plaza Shopping center around 6 or 7 p.m. last Tuesday evening and was accosted by a man in the back seat. She says he forced her to drive around for awhile before making her get into the back seat. They then stopped on a dirt road, in a secluded wooded area where she was raped.

The woman says the man got in her car and drove off, but returned about ten minutes later. He made her drive him to a spot on Lewis Turner Boulevard where he got out of the car and walked away. The victim drove to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.

  The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-to-early forties. He was wearing a blue-hooded jacket, a knitted cap and black pants.

  There are many ways to take precautions against rape.  People, especially women should learn about ways to protect themselves including the following:

     On the street

- Wear clothes & shoes you can run in.

- Walk in well-lit & heavily trafficked areas.

- If a threatening car approaches, turn and walk the other way.

     In Your Home

- Change locks from the previous resident.

- Stand near the emergency button on an elevator.

- Ask for I.D. from an unexpected caller.

- Keep your house keys separate from your car keys. Never give your house key to anyone, even a maintenance person temporarily.

     On A Date

- Listen to that "bad feeling" in your gut.

- Be assertive: cross your arms, square your shoulders, look them in the eye.

- If force is used, say the word "rape."

     In An Intimate Relationship

- Have spare money ready to use.

- If you leave, take your children with you; try to bring I.D., medication, house keys, emergency clothing, special toys, or ...

- Leave a packed bag with someone you trust.

     In A Bar

- Get your own drinks from servers you trust.

- Try to keep an eye on your drink.

- Plan ahead: talk to your friends and figure out what you will do if you think someone has been drugged.

     In Your Car

- Check the back seat before entering.

- Lock the doors & keep windows rolled 3/4 up.

- Keep the gas tank at least 1/2 full so you can drive to safety if you're being followed.
