El banco de Comida de St. Ann esta aceptando donaciones ~ St. Ann food Bank accepting donations (English Version)

"Estuve con hambre y me distes de comer, estuve sediento y me distes de beber...."  dijo Jesús en el Evangelio según San Mateo 25:35.

El hambre todavia es un problema muy significante en los Estados Unidos, se dijo en La Conferencia de Obispos Católicos.  En el 2004, el número de Americanos sufriendo de hambre y viviendo en hogares al borde del hambre incremento a más de 39 millones de Americanos - 13.9 millones de ellos son niños, dijo la UCCB. Desafortunadamente cada día continua los millones de niños y adultos en nuestro país que se van a dormir con hambre, y los recientes huracanes solo ha hecho que la situación empeore en nuestra área.

Bancos de Comida locales estan bajos.  La iglesia Catolica de Santa Ana y los Ministerios Interfaith sus bancos de comida estan necesitando artículos que no se dañen tales como mantequilla de mani, jalea, frutas enlatadas, pudines, tuna, jugos, cajetas de cereales, salsa y pasta de tomate, avena, barras de granola y comida saludables para niños.  Recuerde que aquellos que vienen a nosotros necesitando tal vez no tengan abridores de latas, platos para microondas, así que comidas ya listas para comer con tapas que se abren al jalarlas son las mejores comidas a traer.  Tambien, la campaña de comida del Caring and Sharing esta en progreso.

Hunger is still a significant problem in the Unites States, says the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. In 2004, the number of Americans suffering from hunger or living in homes on the edge of hunger increased to over 38 million Americans - 13.9 million of them  children, the UCCB site states. Unfortunately every day there continue to be millions of children and adults in our country who go to bed and wake up hungry, and recent hurricanes have only made the situation worse in our area.

Local food banks are running very low. St. Ann Catholic Church’s food bank and the Interfaith Ministries food bank are both in need of non-perishable items such as peanut butter, jelly, canned fruits or fruit cups, pudding, tuna, juice boxes, dry cereal, pasta and pasta sauces, oatmeal, granola bars, and child-friendly healthy snacks. Remember that those who come to us in need will likely not have can openers, microwaves or plates, so ready-to-eat items with pull-top lids are the best non-perishables to bring.  In addition, the Caring and Sharing food drive is in progress.
